ABOUT THE AWARDS

I have mentioned and written about the awards in the previous blog but this has some new information.

The Portraits Masters Awards and Accreditation program was founded in 2017 by the creators of The Portrait System (educational courses by Sue Bryce) and The Portrait Masters (portrait photography conference), which offers online and in-person education for photographers. The Awards and Accreditation program was created to acknowledge, honour, and celebrate high-quality professional photographic works and to give photographers the public recognition they deserve in their profession.

Each round of The Portrait Masters Awards and Accreditation is judged by a team of award-wining photographers. Jurors evaluate and award scores on a scale of 1 to 100. Images are judged on a range of creative and technical factors and photographers earn accreditation points by receiving Bronze, Silver, and Gold merits.

Here are the areas within the image that are evaluated and graded:

• Expression and ConnectionStyling

• Composition

• Posing

• Lighting

• Overall Technique and Presentation

• Post-Production

• Focus

• Storytelling

My journey to learn and master portraiture, styling, retouching and creativity has been a long one. Chasing awards and accolades was never the reason behind my photography. But I love being able to improve my photography skills and showcase that in my client work.
