So, here is woman in the middle of a traumatic experience of separation from her husband. And yet, she managed to arrange time to get a photo shoot done with her daughters. Viel Respekt! I am in awe of her because she is strong, determined and would not take any nonsense….There was a fight on her hands and it was. to ensure that whatever she went through, the kids would still be fed, clothed, go to school and continue life, with the littlest interruption.
I think this woman who went through life as a single mother, facing adversity but yet finding freedom and courage in her own way..I have learnt that there is no clear and quick line of assistance even from the justice system and this leads to depression and long suffering for the weaker party.
A few of her words: Numerous statistics show that the narrative of the always caring or even good father is a clear misconception, at least after separation. It not only punishes children and their single mothers, most of whom are now at least threatened by poverty. It costs our society billions year after year and massively increases the shortage of skilled workers, because it releases the majority of parents who have to pay child support from their personal and individual (care) responsibility, while it holds back children and often prevents their mothers from pursuing a career. This deplorable state of affairs can and must be remedied through structural change. State transfer payments can only alleviate the problem in the short term, a profound change is urgently needed. I am proud and glad that I could be her friend and photograph her with her children.
Portrait Session
During this session, she and the girls got a “spa” day with a mud pack, hair and makeup for this photo shoot. We shot indoors and outdoors in the garden….many memories were made in this home. There were many photos of her, her and the children and I hope that when they look back at these pictures, they will see how far they have come…and smile..because they are survivors.
