Ballarat International Foto Biennale
Volunteer and Community work:
Hello everyone, working with the community is one of the activities that we love to get in and do.
Why not spice up your life by working and volunteering??You’ll be amazed by the lasting impact that it can have on local communities, and it’ll bring you a whole lot of fulfilment.
We can also make some unforgettable connections by working and volunteering! When we contribute to local communities, it gives us a real sense of satisfaction that we won’t get anywhere else.
Last year, we were involved in the Christmas Wish project headed by Karen Alsop Heart Project Photographers and Santa Claus visit hospitals around the world to create magical portraits for hundreds of sick children and create incredible Christmas Wonderland Photoshopped artworks as gifts to these families.
This year, I am volunteering at the Ballarat International Foto Biennale where I get to see and guide people through the various exhibits. This runs from 26 Aug to 22 Oct. This is the tenth time or nineteenth year, that the festival is held since it started in 2005. One of the activities that I got to do was photographing the exhibits. That was amazing, as I was “forced” to look at the artwork created by the incredible national and international photographers too. My goodness, there is such great talent out there and the two months for this festival is not long enough to get to see everything.
There are also photographers running workshops, masterclasses, competitions and community programs. I myself got to attend a “How to Shoot Film with Meg Hewitt”! It has been 20 years since we shot weddings with film and Meg is such a talented photographer who is holding her own exhibitions in France and Germany. You can check out her work here.
It is not always about what we get, but what we give. Do you enjoy volunteering?
