A trip to the Swiss Jura
Biel/Bienne – 31/5/2014
Our short trip down to the city that lies at the foot of the Jura mountains was a nice break away from Stuttgart. This was the first time we travelled with our bikes. The plan was to have a relaxing bike ride to get to the gorges of Taubenloch and Twannbach.
I swear my 16 year old bike and my legs were not made for mountain biking. The description of “slight” upwards slope on the tourist information page was GROSSLY misleading. But, fortunately, we found ourselves surrounded by fields of flowers and perhaps, ultramarathon fit cows.
The gorges were spectacular, the favourite being the steeper, more exotic gorge, Twannbach, as we made our way back for a second time, but this time, by car. We also walked around Biel/Bienne’s old town and to the wine making and picturesque village of Twann and managed to visit a local festival.
